went to the weber with my brother last week. we tried near coalville and caught two whities but the water was low and muddy. we moved to a section near wanship and found a few more fat whitefish. the water was also low but more clear. we caught most of them on a bead-head sow bug. we ended up catching about twenty out of the same hole but no sign of trout. I would like to catch a few more trout. I have heard that streamers work well but have never used them before. any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Hey catcher welcome to the site!.I'm sure streamers will do great for the browns.I fish the weber with rappallas and spinners wich imatate minnows just like streamers and I do great with them.

Usually if you are catching White fish like crazy at wanship area Browns are not far away,try fishing just behind the school of white fish the Browns will sit below them picking off the roe. Last week we caught alot more Browns than White fish. Also the stikes are a little lighter than the White fish.

I fish the Weber about 1-2 times a week. In that area, above Colville, I generally catch 1 trout out of 4 to 6 white fish. I enjoy catching the white so it doesn't make that much difference to me. I catch most on a #14-16 Prince nymph or bead head prince. Sow bugs are good but the prince works best for me. Hairs ear are also good including the rubber legged hirs ear. I usually use a tandem with the prince on top. Fish deep, bouncing along the bottom. Keep at it.

I fish streamers a lot. There are a lot of ways to do it. I have some pretty unconventional ways of fishing them but it seems to catch fist. First...in shallow water. I use a double rig. I put a weighted streamer such as a kiwi muddler, zonker, or egg-sucking leach on the bottom and lighter smaller nymph on top. Cast upstream in the slower currents without weight. Let it sink a little bit and strip in short hard jerky movements. Watch out...they will drill it. Fish the banks by casting right at the banks and stripping hard again. They will hit it. For a little more swift water I use a clouser minnow. I know it sounds weird but a #4 or #2 clouser is dynamite most days. I've caught some really nice fish on them. I have a few patterns that I have made up for them. I use two pretty heavy flies for deeper swifter water. Usually a cone head wooly bugger or leach and then a clouser. I have never fished the Weber or Provo but would love to try. If someone wants to go...I could show some streamer techniques.
