Poncho spotted!!!
#1
Here is the link where poncho and his walleyes can be seen on http://www.hotspotfishing.com/fish/Walleye-fishing.asp

For those who did not know him, he was a former Utah walleye angler who has moved recently to the east coast. Those walleyes you see with Poncho are all caught on Deer Creek. He took a photo of my walleye on 6/4/03 Deer Creek thread, and it looks like my walleye is bigger than his. Hee hee.

Hey Poncho, we miss you already! Come on and move back!

[Smile] Ok I got it, I guess I need to read a little better,, I was putting hotsportfishing. I guess old age is setting. I though I was seeing a R.

nice fish though. I have a 28in. 8lbs 4oz. on my wall from deer creek I caught at 11:30pm on the full moon of july a few years ago. you should try fishing at night at deer creek, cast number 18 floating rapala's around the weed line. I've lost a few big ones also. don't let that big rapala scare you because I've also caught a good number of 12in. on that same big rapala. I just wonder what those little walleye are thinking about when they hit that 7in. lure. later chuck

Hey folks, doesn't anybody have a photo of that 15 pounder state record walleye by Jeffery Tanner on the Provo River? Where exactly on the Provo was this caught? I have never seen Jeffery Tanner and his fish and I want to see it to beleive it.

[Smile] Did you catch it in deer creek ?? they sure are pretty fish from deer creek, nice and dark colors with a gold side and white belly. not like utah lake where they'er gray looking and not much color. A 7 lb'er is still a nice fish, considered a trophy in any state. I won't take a walleye over 24in. any more unless it's over 10lbs. and I will also put it on my wall. I like the small 15in. to 20in. they taste much better, the big ones have more fat. are you going to hit deer creek soon ?? I'm going to hit it the first part of April for a few times.

Hey Paul, I think he was just in the mouth of the river, really deer creek. I've also herd another storie about this fish, don't know for sure but I think it weight the 15lbs with no guts, thats what a ranger told me. I've also herd about a 17lb'er cought by some older guy fishing for trout off the island. there was a picture in the utah fishing mag. about 7 years ago. they were trying to get the record with it but I've never herd about it again. later chuck

Utwalleye, Very interesting reading! Thanks for sharing some stuff about Tanner and his eye, and the older fella and his 17 pounder... incidentally all at Deer Creek. Yahooo!

I will be at Deer Creek first part of april especially April 2nd and 3rd, that is the General Conference weekend and most likely not too crowded hopefully!

Looks like we will have to rediscover those spots where the eyes were caught since the water has sunken much lower compared to last year...
