Here is Tom Pettengill's response:
"Walleyes, yellow perch and black crappie have all been illegally stocked
into Jordanelle. Smallmouth bass have been illegally stocked into East
Canyon Reservoir. Perch have been illegally stocked into Mantua and
Starvation reservoirs. The list goes on."

I was wondering if there could be come crappie in Jordanelle. With all that structure, I bet they do quite well.

That is so true, leave it up to the professionals on what is in our lakes. You don't see people "planting" bears or cougars, or deer anywhere then where they ought to be. Fish should be the same, it is just too easy with fish, I guess.

i think that poeple that illigaly plant fish into reservors have no idea what it does to the lakes ecosystem... and honestly it really gets on my nerves when i go ice fishing expecting to catch bluegill, or trout,( mantua) and that hit comes along and i set the hook and i have one of those little suckers... i dont Know about you guys but i dont like perch very much... but that is just my opinoin..

I enjoy fishing for perch -- and you can't beat perch for getting kids into fishing. I just think we need to leave the fishery management to the DWR and fish for perch in the lakes that already have perch. I wouldn't want perch in every reservoir. Just imagine what might happen if perch took over at Strawberry! Horrible.

We'll just have to have lots of perch parties this year. They are incredibly tasty, especially when you use Pikeman's recipe for cooking them. [cool]

to catmans coments about perch in strawberry(ouch) that would be the worst thing to happen there. If you don't believe me look at fish lake the lake trout are starving since they do not eat perch and the pearch are eating all the chub roe so very few chubs for the lakers to eat. weather the perch were put in there illegally or not dosen't matter now they are there. putting walleyes would be the best way to rid the lake of perch, but then you don't have a trout fishery any more, but then we all know that walleye seem to be boom or bust. so this is a catch 22.

Anyone know why the dwr doesn't raise the limit on perch or declassify from a game fish? I would think that they'd want to get them out of certain waters, like mantua. If they raised or eliminated the limits, that would help, wouldn't it?
