clearfield pond
#1
I was wondering if anyone's been there recently and how the fishing's been? I need to take the kids out fishing this weekend, and have to stay close to home.

Thanks.

The pond is right behind Charlie Charlies, a private club for members[Wink] It's right smack downtown clearfield. If you know where Smith's used to be, that is where it is at.

Hi there mateo, I have been going there quite a bite there for the past week or so. There is also Bass, Bluegills and catfish.
There are two area where you can fish from, one is on the south side of the pond along the parking lot of the stripmall. The other is behind the youth rec. center of Clearfield and thy have a small parking lot that you can park at. This is located on west of 500 E. between 2nd S. and 450 S. that would be the better place to take the kids.

Hey, thanks everybody for the info. I'll try to check it out today and I'll give a report later. Has everyone been using flies or has anyone done ok on the traditional jigs? How about worms? I know there are some huge carp in there. Charley charleys feeds them their day old bread, so they've gotten big. I wonder if they'd let you fish from their balcony?

We have been using the regular crappie rig with a green curlytailed grub under a bobber..I saw a guy get a few bluegill on a fly pole.My son was fishing with a small rapala and the bluegill were trying to hit it.We did get 2 bass out of there, just by chance they hit my crappie rig.

Thanks icefool. I'll take some jigs, ice flies, rat finkees and boogers. With this rain, I might be able to go out and pick up some worms. Sounds like a fun place to fish.

Hey Utcatman, if you're familiar with clearfield, it's right off of main(or state). There's a bowling alley, a baskin robbins, and charley charley's. It's on the east side of the street, and you have to drive through the parking lot to get there. I haven't fished it so I don't know the particulars on access, but I know that it borders several back yards, so use a little bit of caution. I wonder if you can use a pontoon or canoe there? I've seen a small boat on the shore, so I would imagine that you could.

As a matter of fact the record for catch and release on the channel was caught there last year. In the proc. they list it as Davis community pond and mabey pond.
