I-80 Pond Bassin
#1
I'm thinking (weather permitting) tomorrow of going to the I-80 pond with my little bro. I just have a couple of questions:

[size 1]Is there a decent area on the bank that you can set up a camp chair and sit and relax and just watch the pond, without being in the middle of thick weeds and/or mud?

My wife (almost 6 months pregnant) may want to head out there with me tomorrow if the weather is decent, and she'll just sit in a chair and read while my little bro and I go out in our tubes, or fish off shore, but she can't be sitting in a patch of reeds or a mud bog or anything.

Also, how far of a walk is it from where you park? Is it steep/difficult terrain or could she handle it okay? [/size]

[size 1]Thanks for any help. [cool][/size]

CONGRATS ON THE NEW KIDDO, MY WIFE IS DUE IN SEPTEMBER..THE 11TH....HOPE THAT CHANGES....NOW BACK TO FISHIN...THE TRAIL AND STUFF FROM THE PARKING LOT IS ALLRIGHT..THE BUGS ARE COMING OUT AND THE BIGGEST PROBLEM YOU WILL HAVE IS FOR YOUR WIFE TO FIND A "DECENT SPOT" TO SET UP A CHAIR, MOST OF THE HOLES ARE FOR IN AND OUT ON THE TUBES, NOT TOO BIG, I THINK STANDING ROOM ONLY IN EM. THERE IS NOT REALLY A "SHORELINE" THAT IS SITTABLE IN A CHAIR TO SAY. THE SLOPE TO THE WATER IS FAIRLY STEEP, AFTER YOU HOP OVER THE 5 TO 6 FOOT ROUND CONCRETE PIPE THAT RUNS ALONG THE FULL LENGHT OF THE SOUTH SIDE OF THE POND, EVEN HAVE TO CROSS IT TO GET TO THE NORTH SIDE OF IT, AND THEN ITS PRETTY MUCH THE SIDE OF A RAILWAY DYKE LOOSE ROCK AND SUCH. I WAS WONDERING ABOUT TAKING MY TUBE OUT THERE TOO....LOOK FOR THE GREEN AND FLO. ORANGE ONE, I WILL BE WEARING A RED BANDANA ON MY HEAD...ITS MY LUCKY RAGG. I WORK ON 12000 WEST AND 2100 SOUTH, SHOOT ME A PM IF YOU WANT TO MEET THERE. I WORK SATURDAY, HOME SUNDAY...BUT LET ME KNOW...I MAY OR MAY NOT HAVE MY TUBE.

IF YOUR WIFE WANTS TO GO FISHING AND SIT OUT TO ENJOY THE SUNSHINE, I DONT THINK THE I-80 POND IS THE PLACE TO DO IT...MAYBE WILLOW POND SHE CAN RELAX, OR POSSIBLY UTAH LAKE OR DEER CREEK, BUT WITH THE RAIN THIS WEEKEND I WOULDNT BE ABLE TO GET MY WIFE OUT FOR A MILLION FISH GAURANTEE.

I THINK THE TERRAIN IS TOO MUCH FOR A WIFE OF SUCH WAYS AS OURS ARE NOW....WE ARE INTO THE 5TH MONTH OF MY WIFES PREGNANCY AND I HAVE A 5 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER.....WHO LOVES TO FISH BUT CANT CLIMB STEEP HILLS AND SUCH...THAT IS WHY I GOT A JEEP TO DRIVE UP THEM HILLS AND GET THE FAMILY TO THE WATER!!! YAY FOR 4X4'S

I'll second what BADFISH said....not the place for a wife to just sit and enjoy herself...especially a pregnaunt wife.

When I got home last night I was covered from head to toe with dead bugs and the seeds from those bullrush type reeds (the ones with the feather looking tops).

PLUS IS SHE IS PREGNANT LIKE MY WIFE IS WITH THE WHOLE ANY SMELL AT ANY TIME COULD MAKE HER PUKE......THIS POND IS NOT FOR HER....THE BREEZE TENDS TO CARRY A PUTRID ROTTING CARP ON THE SHORE KINDA SMELL IN IT....I AM SURE ITS JUST BRINE SMELL FROM THE OTHER SIDE OF THE DYKE TO THE NORTH OF THE POND...AS IN THE NORTH SIDE OF THE POND...SO IF SHE PUKES SHE REALLY WONT WANNA BE THERE.

Hey thanks Badfish and Shrimpboy that's just what I needed to know. Badfish congrats yourself! This will be our first little boy. Can't wait for him to get here and then grow old enough to begin teaching him how to fish!!!!

My tube is teal green with a flourescent orange back. My little bro.'s is forest green if I remember right. I drive a red toyota pickup. If I go I'll be there Saturday afternoon around 4:00 or 5:00. It all depends on if it's raining then or not. If it's sunny I should be there, unless my wife wants to come in which case I'll either hit Utah Lake or Willow Pond or something like that.

Unfortunately I ended up at home all day. My little bro who was going to go with me when he got home from his track meet in Jordan, didn't get home until 9:30 at night! The meet was supposed to be Fri and Sat but with all the rain Fri they moved it to all day Sat so it took forever. His 4 x 400 relay team took 2nd though and now he's going to state!

Good for him. I told him though, that sports are a bad influence. You see how they take away from fishing time!??!?!?!?!?! He didn't listen though. [laugh][shocked][Tongue][sly][angelic]

Anyway, planning on going out early this Sat. morning instead. No track meets. Hopefully the weather will be better this time.

Too bad you didn't get anything. All that cold weather must've really put them down.
