Albacore go down with the weather

The Indian ran a 1 day tuna charter on Sunday, and had a little rolly weather on the way south to the inner bank about 65 miles south of San Diego.The last 4 days have been real choppy and windy off shore and I think this has made the Albacore sink out for a few days ,as we did not see a single one on this trip.We had 2 stops for 10 nice sized Bonito in the morning on the East side of the bank,we then trolled West to the 295 bank and found several kelps that had some fish on them.We landed 8 Yellowtail and 1 30 lb Bluefin tuna.We spent the rest of the day trolling West over the double 220 and into the 1010 trench hitting kelp after kelp for nothing. The weather got pretty good by late afternoon. Ihope the Albies get back on the bite. Capt Randel

Hey Capt,

I'll bet you're not alone in the fruitless albie search. One thing about it, dyed-in-the-wool albie anglers would rather run three days without seeing a single fish than fishing local or the islands with WO bites on almost anything!

That's the nature of the beast. Kinda like muskie anglers in hard hit wis and minn waters or marlin angler in southern California!!

Hope the fishys are more 'in the mood' next trip!
