willard cats and wipers
#1
Went to willard last night to try for cats or maybe a wiper. Saw several nice wipers caught on night crawler by guys fishing for cats. Caught a couple small channels, no wipers no walleye. Has anyone caught eyes at willard yet this year????

According to another post, FFM2 was fishing from shore in the south west corner, but I guess you read that post by now. It seems that this time of the year the wipers are closer too shore and can be caught by casting nightcrawlers out and reeling them in,they like the worm moving. We have had some success trolling deep with worm harness this time of the year but I think we could do better from a boat fishing near the shore just casting toward the shore. We tried casting jigs and nightcrawlers yesterday on the north dike and caught one smallmouth before the wind came up and boat control became an issue. Good luck if you make it out there Sunday. WH2
