Hit the pond this afternoon for a couple hours. Caught a few small bass and a bluegill. Fished the east pond. Where do most of you fish. What's the ticket to some bigger fish there? Is one pond better than the other?

I believe the eastern most pond is the only one with a really good fish population. Its been a year or so since I fished it....maybe longer. I do remember one guy that I fished with over there saying that dark plastics were the way to go. All he fished when i was there were dark worms, zoom I think. I seem to recall that he said black was his favorite or go to color but i've caught nice fish in there on green pumpkin and Watermelon colored plastics....... I fish tubes and minnow baits when I fish there.... Hope that helps.

Almost forgot.... fish really really tight to the bank. I mean, if you can rig weedless do, and cast right up tight in the skinny water inches from the bank. A lot of the hits that I used to get would come on the first jigging motion or swimming motion away from the bank. I don't know if anyone on here ever fishes topwaters there but I'm sure its an option on warm nights.....there are some decent bass in there, I've caught and released some of them..... I also may have caught the biggest bluegill in there..... Or one of them anyway.... I was fishing the west end in the sloppy crap with a soft plastic minnow bait around dark and caught a handsized bluegill.... It was a gorgeous fish....biggest one I've ever caught out of there anyway.......After trying some things, post again and let us know how you do..... I'm interested to see how well it fishes cause I'm really close to it, just haven't made it out there for quite a while......

THE ONLY POND I HAVE EVER KNOWN OF HAVEING FISH IN IT, IS THE EAST POND I THINK THE WESTERN POND IS SALTY. I AM NOT 100% ON THAT THOUGH, I LIKE TO FISH THAT POND WHEN I GET A FEW MINUTES ALL THE TIME, THE LARGEST FISH I CAUGHT OUT OF IT WAS AROUND 4#'S..LAREMOUTH BASS, I CAUGHT GILLS AND WHAT I THINK WAS A CRAPPIE...BUT I HAVE NEVER SEEN ANOTHER ONE FROM DIFFERENT WATER, BUT IT WAS WIDE, SILVERISH, WITH BLACK "BLOTCHES" ON IT, AND A PAPER MOUTH....SO I THINK IT WAS. I USE SPINNERS, LIKE BLUE FOX VIBRAX, USE A GOLD, BRASS, COPPER, COLORED BLADE FOR YOUR FLASH, THE WATER IS STAIND SLIGHTLY AND SILVER WONT "BROADCAST" THE FLASH AS WELL AS THE OTHERS.
YOU CAN ALSO DRAG A CRAWLER' UNDER A SLIP FLOAT, UN WEIGHTED, I WOULD INFLATE MY WORM SLIGHTLY SO IT WAS IN A "NEUTRALLY BOYANT" STATE, IT WONT FLOAT OR SINK....AND JUST DRAG THAT SUCKA ALL OVER.
I HAVE ALSO TRIED SKITTER POPS, FLOATING RAPALAS, AND SOME SKITTER PROP TYPE LURES WITH MIXED REVIEW, BUT I AM USUALLY THERE AROUND 3 OR 4 IN THE AFTERNOON.
I DID JUST GET SOME GULP SAMPLES I HAVE NOT HAD A CHANCE TO TRY OUT YET. IT IS A SHALLOW WATER IT WILL BE WARM.

I fished the pond just South of the rest area quite often last summer. I was throwing woolybuggers and the fish would swarm around them. Just about every cast landed a 4-6" SMB. The fish weren't huge but the catching was great. I also saw a few enormous fish that would pop up out of the holes in the moss. I nailed one once but it broke my line before I could get it in. I'd say it was at least 20".
WillFishForFood and I tried the pond last Saturday with no luck. It had to have been the bad weather. I think it will pick up again once it warms up a bit more.

Oops, guess I let that one fly. I was wondering why I never saw anyone there fishing. Maybe now I'll see some fellow BFT'ers!
Actually, it really is the pond/ditch to the south of the rest area right before the Tooele exit. Looks like nothing would live in there but it has a ton of bass.
