Anyone out there fish the Madison just below the dam from Hebgon this time of year? I have to make a trip up there and just was wandering if it was worth my time and what to use. Also thinking about fishing Cliff Lake? Thanks

I was just up on that stretch just this weekend.. it is running great.. Cabin creek was a little muddy but it didnt bother the madison. Cliff was slow.. but clear and so was Wade it was slow too I did manage to catch a few really nice rainbows out of Quake

On the Madison use a beaded phesant tail or and olive woollybugger they seemed to hit movement.. the white fish were really active.

good luck if you want to know anything more i have a cabin up there and fish it about three times a month

oh on Quake walk into where beaver creek runs into it they were hitting there pretty fast..

Where is your cabin? We were thinking about building in Hebgen Lake Estates, have you heard anything good or bad about this area?

Thanks,

our cabin is by the cliff / Wade lake turn off. I personally think the HEbgon Estates area is a bit crowded for my tastes.

there are hundreds of elk moving up the madison right now by the slide inn. so if you arent catching fish there is always somethign cool to look at.

Oh and if you like the stretch between hebgon and Quake is a bait fishing zone and my girl friend used a meal worm and drifted it like a nimph and she did GREAT.. she caught a couple of browns over 20"

I got out fished again..

We built a cabin at Yellowstone Acres. It is the big A-frame that you can see on the north side of the road just before you go over the pass. What a great place to have a cabin. Our family loves it. I fish the river alot during the summer but have not been up there during the month of April or early May. I have always caught fish on that part of the river. Thanks for the info.

Just for the board we do rent our cabin. It has 4 bedrooms, and each bedroom has its own bathroom. We built it for our family to enjoy during our annual family reunion. We love to share it with others because it is such a great place to spend time with your family. It has a very large loft that over looks Henry's Lake and Sawtell Peak. The loft could sleep 30 people in sleeping bags and it also has a full bath upstairs. It has a large great room that is connected to the kitchen. You can be on the Madison River in 15 minutes or Henry's Lake in 10 minutes. West Yellowstone is only 10 miles as the crow flies. I will work on getting pictures posted soon..

That is a great looking cabin! I am truly jealous of both of you. We were thinking about Hebgen Lake Estates, because the lots are not too expensive, and we would have the comforts of home such as electricity, sewer, etc.. (not that important to me, but the wife...). Maybe in another 25 years I can retire up there.[cool]

I make sure the family gets to yellowstone at least a couple times a year ( my favorite place in the world) I think I saw your familys cabin going up.

anyway i was wondering how much it rents for. I know it probibly depends on what month and even what week it is. But just looking for a approx $$

$250.00 a night for Friday, Saturday, and Holidays. $225.00 a night for Sunday through Thursday nights. $200.00 a night if you stay at least 6 nights or more. There is a minimum stay of 2 nights.

If you were to fill each of the 4 rooms with a friend or family then it becomes very affordable. This is no prettier place to spend a few days fishing than the Island Park area.
