Ok, for Friday. Got out of school for the week early(Yeha!) and got to strawberry with my dad, uncle and little brother about noon. The wind was howling pretty good. We finally decided to walk in over a mile to a bay we used to fish. When we were finally set up, my little brother started casting a #3 bronze blue fox, messing around. After just 2 casts, he hooked up with an 18" cutt. I looked in the tackle box for a camra. Not there. Later when I got back to the truck it was sitting on the seat. Doh!! I was cussing my self out. He released the fish, and casted again. BAM! Another beautiful 18" Cutt. Now my dad, uncle and I were all changing to a lure. I was lucky because I took down my mini rod, which had the powerbait, and the good 6'6" rod handy. I casted out, notta. I tried again. Notta. So, I moved around the corner, to the next little "bay". First cast Bam! It was a 24" cutt. My dad and uncle measured him, and said "Keeper!" They threw him up on the bank. I've gotta say I didn't disagree. This fish was skinny. My little brother casted out, and whamo! It too was a 24" cutt, only the exact opposite. Fat and healthy. However, my dad and uncle don't care. It was a keeper, too. We sat on that bank for the next 2 hours. My uncle and dad each caught 4 or 5 a piece, my little brother only 1. About an hour after my fish, I found a nice little shinner that was dead with cutt teeth markings all around him. I switched my mini rod set up, and put him on a treble 4 feet below a bobber. I casted out. 5 minutes later, when I wasn't paying attention, my pole went crash against the rocks, then splash into the water. I jumped in after it(a really pleasant feeling with 40 degree temps and a 10 mph wind), grabbed the pole and set the hook. My drag immediatly sang. I sat there in thigh deep water reeling in the fish. When I finally got it up, a good 10 minutes later, it was a 27" giant cutt. What a fish! Honestly the biggest fish I've ever seen in the berry! Thankfully he was hooked right in the side of the lips. I released him to fight another day.[
] Boy, my dad and uncle wern't happy about that! A while after, we packed it in and went to fish the main lake off of the highway for a while. My uncle caught one more 17" cutt.
Today, I got out early with Ronda. Thank god she has her driver's license. We got there early. But, at 9:00 in the morning, we had to go. Her mom got in a pretty good wreck. She's doing good, though. We still managed 2 cutts a piece, all around 20", all on the brown trout blue fox's. We fished the ladders. I'll update tomorrow with my pontoon trip!
Almost forgot! When I gutted the fish, my little brothers had about 8 shinners in him, just like the one I caught Mr. Big on. Mine had a big piece of plastic that was blocking his gutts up. Good thing I kept him. He was as good as dead anyway.
