Powell
#1
Hey all, its been a while since I've posted as I have been out of town for the past year. Its good to be back fishing "our" waters. I'm heading to powell this next weekend and have not heard anything about this lake for this year, so if anybody has been down there give me a quick update. I looked on Wayneswords but it looks like you have to sift through alot of fluff to find much fishing info, this is why this site is the best. Its good to be back and I look forward to running into you guys at the Bear again.

We were there over Easter, and the fishing was great. We fished out of Wahweap marina, mostly in Padre Bay and Rock Creek. Rattletraps fished with a steady retrieve around any shallow sandy area next to deeper (20 feet or so) water produced fish after fish. There has been a cold spell and a couple of fronts through the area since we were down, but word is that the spawn is on again, and the fish have moved up shallow. Suspending jurk baits (husky jerks, bevy shad, pointer minnows etc.), spinner baits, and rattling baits should help you locate fish easily, then slow down with grubs tube baits or senkos to clean up! The stripers were in the backs of the coves chasing shad with small mouths mixed in and they were aggressive. Fish were very healthy, and the stripers averaged around 4 lbs. Wish you well, and let us know how it went when you get back.......Nails

I just got back from a 3 day weekend. Lots of smallies and LMB. I never hunted down the Stripers,, I was working the Walleye for the most part (only caught one). I did talk to one guy that told me Stripers are suspending at about 70 feet deep under the shad schools in the canyon's.. Water temp is 60. For the most part I picked up the Smallies and LMB on the Roadrunners, and Worm and slip sinker rigs I was hopping the bottom for Walleyes. My main targot depth was 10-20 feet in shaded areas. Good luck..
