Fish Count
#1
I am keeping a count on the fish I catch this year. Wondering if you guys ever do the same. Thought about having a 2004 soft water season fish count, NOT A CONTEST OR COMPETITION, AND NO NAMING THE BODY OF WATER(TO PROTECT WATERS FROM POSSIBLE OVER FISHING). I was thinking just stating the number of fish and what kind. Maybe lures or bait used, BUT NOT WHERE YOU CAUGHT THEM. This way we can tell fish stories, get people excited, and not make anyone mad by saying where, it can also show what BFT is catching. NOT A CONTEST.

My Count 2004, each trip
March 3 bows, March 3 bows 1 brown, April 4 browns, April 1 brown, April 3 browns, may 19 browns, may 7 cutts, may 11 cuts. Thats mine so far.

I can't say that I keep count either. But it might be interesting to try.

Keeping a log of where you went, the conditions and how many fish you caught can be very useful and fun at times. I used be obsessive about it but I've found that I have more fun if I don't count the exact number of fish.

I'm sorry counting just won't do. If you count, then when you tell people how many fish you caught you're a liar. If you don't count, then whatever you say is some version of the truth (or your best estimate). lol

i think its a good idea but also i never keep track. somedays i couldnt possibly count all of them and stay in the good areas. others it might be the best way to past time to try and count to one.

I think it's a great idea to keep count if you can. I do the same although I dont break it down into months. This year I'm taking it a step further and writting a little story in a journal about my fishing trips, including what I used, where I fished, weather and of course what I caught. My total so far this year: 9 rainbows, 4 browns, 3 cutthroat, 3 carp, 9 smallies, 4 largemouth, 3 wiper, and 4 splake, anyway I need to go again, its been a while. Thinking about some Utah lake cats but I've never tried it so it ought to be interesting.

I've never been a clock watcher or a fish counter.. As long as I toss back more than my limit I figure its all good..

I don't like to keep count either but have been recently so I can enter it into my database. It is a pain to take 5 or 10 minutes to enter the information but in a few years it will be well worth the work.

Man, I couldn't remember the numbers that long. lol. I think I got A.D.D. or something. Its definatly a good idea. Last year I did it for the jordan river early in the year, but it got old fast. It'd be nice to be able to see what you caught, how they were caught and everything like that for future use.
