Strawberry and Soldier Creek

My wife and I spent three days at the Soldier Creek Campground this past week. We took our trailer so we couldn't tow the boat. However, I did take an inflatable boat and trolling motor. The weather was stormy off and on and the evenings were extremely cold. However, the fishing (catch and release) was great. I took my wife out fishing and she had a ball! Some friends also camped in their trailer next to us, and I was able to take the husband out fishing with me as well. This was the first year that he had purchased a fishing license in several years. He had a great time and indicated that he needs to spend more time fishing. We caught fish trolling with Rapalas and Carter Spoons. I have a favorite green Carter Spoon that never fails me up there. I trolled that spoon behind 1 1/2 colors of leaded line and had non-stop success!

ARE THE CUTTS STARTING TO SPAWN YET ?

I really don't know if the cutts are spawning yet. I didn't keep any Cutts and I was so concerned about releasing them unharmed that I didn't look at them that closely. I just wasn't thinking about their spawn! We caught both rainbow and cutthroats and I did keep a few rainbows for dinner. It was interesting to me that the rainbows we caught were towards the top of the water while the cutts were deeper on this trip. Usually this is reversed.
