bowfishing
#1
Does anyone know of a good place to bowfish for carp right now? I took two bows to Utah Lake last saturday and we didn't get into them. We went around Hobble Creek and then by the airport. Apparently the spawn is over at Utah Lake. Are there other places like Pineview, Echo or Deer Creek where we might find them spawning? thanks.

From the bank or wading in a couple feet of water along the shoreline. Although I might be able to access a boat.

Last June there were alot of carp in the shalows at Deer Creek. They were on the flats where the Provo river comes in, But I haven't been up there this year yet.[:/]

Don't know if this helps, but they were spawning in the shallows at Pineview on the 18th I haven't made it back since. I was between Anderson cove and the area that the south fork ran into it. Good luck--Licker

During the summer at Utah Lake you can almost always find carp rising and within walking depth. Last year I walked around a lot of the shore line on the south end and was fishing for cat fish. There were carp all around me and the entire time I was there I was wishing I had my bow with me. I have found in the past that they will rise on warm days and stay below on colder days. I have never played much around the river channels but I hear lots of good things about it. If you ever want to wade around Utah Lake let me know and we can get together. The carp are in there all the time, you just have to find a warm day when they are rising.

Down towards Happy Valley, I'd stick with Utah Lake. The cooler weather we've had lately has turned them a little inactive, but they'll come back to the top when it warms up a little. Good luck and have fun.

I was fishing the jordan river west of lehi straight out main steet last weekend and there were hundreds of carp along the banks. Would be a great place to bowfish. They were grouped up so tight you could stick them 2 at a time very easily. Good luck.

Be careful if you go to the lower provo. It is closed to taking non game fish by methods other than angling due to the June Sucker. I think its from I-15 to Utah Lake they wont hesitate to write a ticket.

Thanks for all of the good info. We almost went to the Provo last Saturday, and I'm glad that we didn't.
