To update the new members on the board, this last winter State park managers where issuing tickets for riding OHV’s on the ice. It is illegal to ride OHV’s in state parks. It has been common practice to ride on the ice to fish in the winter and there was no rule that allowed this. That will change on July 2nd 2004.

I didn't see anything on there about Fish Lake. I know the basin is posted for no ATVs, but have always wondered if that is enforced (or enforceable) on the ice.

If you can find out where / how to comment, the Fish Lake area should be brought up with this.

I believe that Fish Lake is a Federal Park or Forest this change only pertains to State of Utah Parks.

What this is saying is that it will be OK to ride OHV’S on the ice but it only give access though the boat ramp at the State Park. I would like to see it allow for access with OHV's at other pubic fishing accesses.

I would also like to see this published in the fishing proclamation so it would be easy to find out which lake it’s allowed and not allowed.

I guess no more ice fishing at state parks. The state can kiss goodbye some more revenue from me and my friends. National parks here we come.

The Federal Government won’t allow Willard Bay because of some Indian ruins even though we are riding on the ice, I’ll keep working for Willard with my contact. On Deer Creek it is the Provo Water Users Association that will not allow OHV’s on the ice. At Lost Creek it is the County Sheriff and the surrounding land owners. With the warm springs at Utah Lake the state will not allow OHV’s.

Addicted - Fishlake is Forest Service and I don't think it is enforced on the ice. I know I and others use our wheelers all the time on the ice and have never been checked. It would be hard to enforce if they tried cause there is a ton of snowmobile traffic thru that area as well in the winter.
