Flaming Gorge input needed
#1
Headed to Flaming Gorge next week with my wife and grandson (we will be staying in one of the Kabins in the KOA in Manila). Any current reports, lure or technique tips, or anything else anyone is willing to share I would appreciate the help. Of course we would love to catch large fish, but with the grandson along, the priority is quantity first (macks, bass, kokes, or trout) and quality second. Feel free to send me a PM, and I do have a downrigger, a quality fishfinder, and a GPS.

Thanks,

Kent,

If you put a Triple teazer, koke king or similiar lure down to the depth most of the fish are holding on your down rigger. This will catch kokes and few bows. Providing action for the grandson. For larger fish if you have a pole with steel line troll a large flatfish, try to keep this lure bouncing bottom in 50 to 90 foot of water. If you don't have a pole with steel line, try trolling the same big flat fish on lead line. Another lure I have had a little suucess for big fish with at the gorge is squid behind a dodger. Hope this helps you out.

Take your grandson and go chase smallmouth bass. Any rocky shoreline should hold them. You can catch them by the grundles and they fight fairly decent.

You might try a Rapala or Flatfish behind a dodger. That can get the Mac's really going sometimes. Wish I were going there myself. Hope to make it up there before the end of the month with my boys. Mr. J.
