Strawberry River 6/10
#1
I hit the river near the Pinnacles and fished from about 2:30 to 4:30. The weather was cloudy and cool, but there weren't any bugs out at all. I fished a royal trude and caught 2 fish (both browns). I put a dropper on for a little while and turned one other fish on the dropper. All in all it was very slow. I then went to the stretch of river below the dam and caught 3 (2 brookies and 1 brown) in about 30 minutes again on the trude. There weren't any bugs out on this stretch either.

The browns were 10 - 12 inches. Nothing real big considering that there are some nicer ones in there. Below the damn I saw a brookie that would go 16 to 17 inches, and it was really fat. It was sitting under a dead tree in the river, but wasn't moving to feed at all. Could be worth a trip back to try and find that fish.

Try the Strawberry River farther upstream from the Pinnacles where it opens up but below where it narrows again. There are a lot of long pools and runs without a lot of brush that is great for flyfishing. Mr. J.
