Smith & Morehouse on Free Fishing Day
#1
Hit Smith and Morehouse the morning of free fishing day. Took the kids of some friends up for some early morning fishing. The fish were small planters but those kids sure had fun.

Both boys were using Panther Martins but the younger brother caught nine fish before the older brother even got a bite. Man, I had them switching poles, switching lures, and even switching sides. But the younger brother just kept catching and the older brother couldn't buy a hit. He did finally hook up and by the time we left that morning, the younger brother had caught 15 and the older brother caught 9.

That sure is a pretty lake up there.

That is a beautiful lake. I have never been but we are hoping to get up there this year. What are the camping facilities like up there? I know it has been posted before but don't want to search for it.

I love the grins on the kids faces when they get fish. Especially if they are first time fisherman. Looks like a great time was had by all.

Yes, it is VERY good taking kids fishing. Sure beats the heck out of game boys or soap operas. Wish I had more time to take more kids out more often. It's one of those things that gives you a right darn good feeling.

I have a step-grandson that the wife and I love to take with us when we go do things. He loves to go fishing. At 8 years he still is learning patience, but I have a lot of enjoyment with him and watching him grow.

Way to go! I especially enjoy the last picture. Beautiful reservoir -- and to answer the other question there are two campgrounds, and they are both gorgeous -- and popular.

I don't know about the lower one but the upper (Ledgefork) campground has some of the nastiest outhouses i've ever been in On a scale of 1 - 10 the smell was a 7 and it wasn't very clean, and when I leaned over to grab the TP the seat slid 3-5 inches I almost fell off[laugh] But the campground is beautiful and there is some good fishin I was up there last week, only caught two out of the lake ( it was windy and I never do very good in the wind) so I tried the river about 50 - 100 yards before it enters the res and caught 3 more and if my casting was a little more accurate and my hooksetting better (my river fishing skills are a little rusty) I could have caught a lot more, I fished the res for 2 1/2 hours with powerbait and the river for 30 - 45 mins. with salmon eggs. "On the weekend you have to reserve a campsite unless you get there early on friday" said the campground host. but its definately worth a trip up there.[Smile]
