#1
[shocked]I was surfing a Cougar Football site and my wife was flipping channels on tv, when there was a teaser for the 10:00 news tonight on KSL ch. 5 that said something about a fisherman dieing today at Strawberry. Stay tuned...I'll provide an update after I see the news. Hope my ears just need to be cleaned out, but I swear that's what I heard...[pirate]

[mad]Man, that sucks!!!!!!!!! How can someone be such a dumba$$ and not make his kid where a life jacket??? My daughter is only 2 months old, but you can damn well bet that when I start taking her out in the boat (when she's 3 or 4 and someone else can help me keep an eye on her) that she WILL ALWAYS have a life jacket on her!!!!!!!!

Again, I hope it was noone from this board, but still a Sad story no matter who it was.

I agree my kids wore their life jackets at all times when i had a boat! A little uncomfort but is not bad compared to dying!

Man that is a harsh lesson to learn. Yeah it was stupid to not have a PFD on a kid, but I'll send my condolences to the grieving family. God bless.

I really feel bad for that family but how can you drown at the fish cleaning station. Must of been some kind of a reach to fall in.

Well at least everybody at the funeral will know he died doing what he loved.

I got this from the ksl website.

KSL News) -- A father-son fishing trip ended in tragedy, when the son died Wednesday afternoon at Strawberry Reservoir.

The two men were heading back from fishing. The 50-year-old son was cleaning the catch of the day, when he dropped a fish overboard, and went in to retrieve the fish. In the process, the canoe capsized.

[Image: 10355.jpg] Wildlife officers responded to the scene. They found one man floating in the water. It's not known yet if the man drowned or suffered a heart attack.

The victim was wearing a life jacket, although there are conflicting reports as to whether it was on properly.

Channel 4 news reported that the son was wearing a lifejacket, but it wasn't secured properly or tight enough.

Channel 13 at 11:00 said it was a 70 yr old man and a 50 yr old son. They said they didn't know if the man died from drowning or of a heart attack. They also said that he didn't have his life vest on properly.

What a terrible story. Hopefully anyone who hears about this and thinks that safety rules are there to ruin your trip will think twice and take the proper precautionary measures.
