Jordanelle 6-16-04
#1
Fished Jordanelle this morning from 6:45 till 1:15. Fishing was steady from first cast to last, with fish coming from the bank down to about 14 feet. Our 5 best fish went just over 13 1/2 lbs, the largest being 5lb 3oz. Deb caught a 3lb and a 2lb 3oz nearly back to back. We had a couple of doubles, and just a great time. The perch were pests (albeit welcome pests) and kept the action going. Weather was overcast with southerly breezes, outside temp was 43 to start, and warmed to 67 by the time we left. Water temp was 60 to 61, still on the cool side, but the fish were definately playing. The picture of the wife is blurry cause I was the one who took it....go figure! Nails

We fished the north arm of the lake, and the key areas had 22 degree to 45 degree slopes with rubble rock and scattered brush. We actually caught fish on the east and west side of the lake. Everywhere we tried with the above attributes produced fish. As to the perch, they were in every location, but that was probably a plus as the big smallies like to munch a bunch on perch! The size of the bait can help keep the perch off, but we even caught a few on 6" senkos (almost the same size as the perch). The fishing is on the upswing I think, we were there last week and found fish, but they were all less than 2 lbs. Good luck and let us know how you did! Nails

Thanks for the info Nails, I fished that same area two weeks ago and it held some bass but those pesky perch would'nt leave our jigs alone. I'm still going to head up there tonight, it looks like the raincoat is going to get some use.
