pelican bay 6-23
#1
Stopped at pelican bay for a couple of hours this morning on the way home from work. It was pretty windy, but that didn't stop the kitties off my hook. First cast I hooked into a nice 29" 7lb channel. Second cast I hooked into one bigger than the first, but the bobber I was using for a strike indicator got rapped around my pole and while untangling it that one went free. Atleast I got to see what I lost [unsure]! Damn the luck. Third time out it was another channel just over 3lbs. After that it slowed down. Used my new floating fish finder off the dock, and graphed 4-5 schools of fish so out came the jigs. Got a few bites but couldn't hook anything. Pretty fast fishing from 6:45 to about 7:30. Only had 8lb test so the 2 big ones took a while to get in. I always tell my self don't forget the net, and I always do. It was pretty funny trying to get that 7 pounder up the rocks with only a pair of needle nose. Next time I won't forget the net [blush]. I'll be heading out there again saturday with the kids. And in the morning again after work.

what were you using for bait? fishing in the harbor or on the Lake side? I was out there on Saturday night. Just a bunch of med cats for me. Did see 1 nice white bass caught though and a smallmouth. I didn't know they were in there until then.

Pelican Bay is on the west side of UT Lake about 5-10 miles South of Saratoga Springs. Easiest way to get there is get on Redwood road and keep driving South.

[cool]Sounds like a pretty good spot! Do you have to pay to use it, like Lindon harbor, etc.?

I was using worms about 2ft below a sinker. I caught the 7 pounder, and the one that got away on the harbor side. The 3 lb was on the lake side N. of the harbor.

They do have a pay booth at the entrance, but no signs with pay info or a pay box. I have never been asked about paying yet. I don't think it will stay that way forever. I'll enjoy it while I can though.
