The way the county guy made it sound they are trying to make it better for boats, and personal water craft. It is a county run marina, (saratoga springs). I don't know if they have had meatings with the residents or not??? But with this being the only public boat ramp on the west side of the lake the county would bring in a lot of money makeing it attractive for people to launch boats. As far as the fishing goes who knows what it will be like when its done. More people more boats more personal water craft, doesn't sound like much fun to me. But I could be wrong. It might be a great place when its done. Only time will tell.

I really like fishing this spot. I hope it doesn't get ruined. My only hope is that the area is still rather rural. maybe there won't be too much demand because of the limited populaiton. I know Saratoga Springs and West Lehi are growing but there isn't near the population on the west side of the lake as the east side. I don't think there will be near the pressure of say Lindon or AF. How many people from Orem, Highland or Alpine will drive halfway around the lake to launch?
I do tend to think think that fees tend to create a cleaner fishing environment as it tends to discourage the riff raff and slobs. I still think that there should be free fishing access though but if the county wants to charge for maintaing the grounds (trees, grass, toilets, trash removal, dredging the harbor etc.) then thats fine. Someone has to fund those things.

if you want to see how well fees discourage trash just go to willard in the north or south marina. its as dirty as can be and a whopping 9 dollars to go fish in the filth. i personally get frustrated with the fees because it is simply just paying to fish. if you saw some dramatic results from your money then it would pay off but usually all i see are some smelly restrooms and pavilions for day picnickers etc. i never use the facilities you pay for and just end up paying to walk on public access ground all for the sake of improvement that doesnt seem to be "improved." thats too bad they are adding another area of somewhere to fish to the pay to play list.
