Pelican Bay 6-26 WOW!!!!!
#1
Took the kids out for the day, and what a day it was. Got to the lake at about 9am, and the channels were hitting right away. With in the first 2 hours the kids had all caught 2 channels a piece anywhere from 3 to 7 pounds. My daughter hooked into a 5 ponder (one of 3) on here favorite BARBIE kiddy pole. What a joy to see the excitement (AND STRAIN) while she realed them in. My 2 boys had just as good luck. They both hooked into big channels right away too. Oldest 13's first one was 4 1/2, and the middle boy 10 started with a 6 lb 14 oz lunker. It took me a while but I also finaly got a couple of channels 1 5lb and 1 4lb, also had a bluegill swallow a 2/0 hook. We ended up catching 12 channels ranging in weight between 3 and 7 pounds. I lost count on the muds I think we caught somewhere around 12 or so. Best day of cat fishing I have ever had, and to be able to share that with the kids was something I will never forget. You have never seen 3 kids so happy in your life. Did really well on both harbor and lake sides. Channels are spawning on the lake side right against the rocks. Did see on guy BASS fishing off the docks. Looked like he caught 4 or 5 really nice LM. (All released). OH!! all fish were caught on the bottom using worms. One guy in the morning was using shrimp with little luck. All I can say is WOW !!!!! WHAT A DAY!!!!!

[cool]Sounds like a great time, wiggy! Nice report! I had a decent day over at Lincoln Beach too. I can't wait till my daughter is old enough to take her out like that too and build some nice fishing memories, but right now she's only 2 months, so we've still got about 3 or 4 years yet.

Night fishing is great. They have put in fire rings for night fishing so everyone isn't just puting fires anywhere they want. The difference between night and day is where I have caught the fish. Right about after dark the channels come in along the rocks (within 3-5 foot from shore). After dark I always switch to a bobber and fish right next to shore. If you have a 2 pole permit you could try both. I will be headed back out with the kids for a night of fishing on 7/5. If you go good luck. Its been a great place latley.

Hey wiggy. What was on the menu for them kitties, hanging under a bobber? Better luck fishing in the marina than outside? Where were the bass hanging out. Sorry for all the questions but thinking about fishing there this weekend. Just moved into the marina's neighborhood and haven't fished this side of the lake for around 15 years. Thanks for the post, sounds like you had fun!

Great report. Sounds like the kids had a great time. Nothing better than watching their faces when they reel in the fish.I would rather help them catch fish than get them myself.
