Wasting UDWR funds

I found the following post on the UDWR forum:

Wasting DWR Funds

As I write this note, The DWR has contracted a fencing crew to put up a fence around Cascade golf course. I work for the state, so I will get in trouble if I write an editorial, but someone needs to know what is going on. First, Mr. Stratton has been deer and elk and dumping the bodies in a ravine next to the golf course just off of his property. Second; the new golf course expansion goes right up the foot hills in Orem and borders Forest Service property. Third; how can a golf course qualify as agricultural? Fourth; how many more golf courses and millionaires homes will the public pay to have fenced off due to land owner stupidity. This is braking new ground and will set new presidence for more claims on DWR depredation dollars.

This is not right to use DWR monies to fence a golf course and anyone who plays golf should boycott cascade golf course. Get the word out folks.

I was going to write something but I changed my mind so I don't get in trouble. So I will just say "Thank you" for the notice and will do more later.

this line makes no sence "First, Mr. Stratton has been deer and elk and dumping the bodies in a ravine next to the golf course just off of his property." what has mr. stratton been doing to the deer and elk? killing them, if so it seems to me the instead of putting up a fence they should be imposing a poaching fine and sending the bas**** to prision. if they claim that he had the right to kill them because they were causing damage to his properity, then i ask why went the farmers in ephriam allowed to do the same without reprimand when the elk would come down in the winters and eat all of the hay that the farmers needed to get through the winters.

It's funny how some Golf Courses in Canada use the wildlife as an attaction rather than an offensive deterent to golfers.

I have seen in Baniff National park bull elk and tourist playing on the same course but here in Utah I guess they can't come out and play with the rest of the neighborhood - even through it was their backyard way before the golf course was their....

Golf courses loose money so don't expect any return on these $$$ spend.

I'm going fishing - this thread make my head and wallet ache....

I think that if you, me, or anyone builds or grows something in traditional wildlife feeding areas, you just need to be prepared to feed a few animals. Heck, the stinking golf course should have to pay to put up the fence. They are alreaded wasting millions of gallons of water to keep the greens green, why do they have to waste our wildlife dollars to protect some grass? Morons.

Thanks Kent, This doesn't surprise me one little bit. But it is truly offensive! Being a farm boy, my dad fed deer and other critters all the time. He sometimes complained but always would say it was the cost of using public lands. Never once did he even consider asking the DWR to put up fences, I bet he would turn over in his grave at the idea. Maybe the Golf Course should be paying the DWR? Atthe very least they should be feeding the deer and elk and not killing them.

Between you, me, and the fence post (as it were). I dont feel the least bit sorry for anyone that steals wintering grounds from animals for what ever purpose, whether it be for a residential or commercial development or otherwise. A I see it,, because of their overwhelming needs to look down their noses on others, and their greed, wild life suffers while pockets are filled with the almighty green back dollar. Then, like clock work, yearly, we hear and read of some whining fool that build on wintering ground and complains that deer and/or Elk are turning their shrubs and bushes into dropping on their lawns and driveways. Well boo hoooooooo!! You made your choices, live with it.

The Stratton's have in the passed shot deer wintering in their orchards and dumped they carcasses in that ravine. I could be wrong about the final number, but, as I recall they were brought up on charges after 16 deer carcasses were found in that revine a few years ago. That in itself is old news, really old news, but the fact we all now get to pay for fences to prevent deer from using land witch is rightfully theirs to winter on really gets me..

So to those that choose to steal the deer and Elk wintering grounds to build on, let it be known. When you start whining that deer are eating you out of house and home (as it were), and pooping on your driveways during the winter mouths, just SUFFER! Many of us feel your the thieves not the animals and we dont feel sorry for you.. And thats this mans oppinion..

I agree totally with leaving the deer/elk/moose/etc. alone on their feeding grounds, wherever they are.

In fact, I have contributed two nice pine trees to their menu last winter at my place at Bear Lake.

However, what the hell has this to do with FISHING? This is supposed to be a fishing forum (at least that is what I was told after submitting a on-fishing thread.
