Tubed the Rockcliff area from 7:00pm till dark. Had a conference call with Senkonate and went out to investigate his top secret honeyhole. I tell you that spot is so secret even the fish don't know it exists[laugh]. Got out to the general area and marked pods of fish scattered about. Would fish the pods and get tormented by, what else, Perch. Lots of 10' deep water out there!!!
After a while of that decided to check out my local Honey hole. Fished it for a while and Zippo!!! It seems that the water has receded so much that all the fish holding structure is now high and dry and the shallow areas are choked with weeds. The bright side is now I know why I was catching largemouth and Smallies from that particular spot.
Did manage to catch two tiny Smallies near the old road and had an encounter with a Moose. I was nearly 100 yards fom shore and a moose was walking the bank on the North side. A father and son were walking on the perimeter trail towards thier fishing hole. Once the Moose got a look at them he decided to take a swim and it seems like he planned on using my tube as a means of flotation. He just headed straight towards me grunting the whole way. I decide I wasn't having that so I moved away. The moose decided to follow me for a bit. He altered his path to intersect mine. I just stood my ground and splashed a bit to drive him off. Interesting encounter to say the least.
Water temperature was a balmy 73 degrees when I arrived and 70 when I left.
