Those sure are some nice plump perchies! Did you take them home and fillet them?

I don't want to give away someone else's secrets, but look more closely at the coloration of the perch. There is only one possible place those perch came from. Very obvious if you look more closely.

A mess of LMB and bluegills too? I'd say those pics came from Mantua.

Looks to me like he was using a pistol pete. Not really a true fly if you ask me, but I guess it works.

Just wondering. How much did you pay for that scale and is it accurate? I'm in the market for one. Thanks.

Excellent guess, you've hit it right on the money. Those perch at Mantua have a distinctive dark coloration with much green. Even the perch at Jordanelle, although sometimes very colorful are distinct from Mantua. I guess I am just prone to notice subtle things that are not that obvious. Yes the mention about lmb and gills confirms my immediate suspicion beyond a doubt.

Man you all are good! Sorry about the reply, been away. I have spent a lot of time at Mantua lately and every stinkin night or morning we have caught literaly bags of fish. I have seen some great size and shaped LMB. the bluegills will surprise you, they are impressive. The coloration of the fish in Mantua are unlike other lakes. I think someone in the replys mentioned a Pistol Pete? In my book a legal fishing lure is as real as anything else. Then again i need to remind my self that there may be some purists that are only able to toss a fly and that's about it. My two cents on that is if you can be a purist in all techniques of fishing and consistently produce fish at most attempts no matter the technique......... The purists can eat my shorts. As far as what we have been using???????????????? Plastic worms for the LMB's, Small flys for the bluegills and Perch. I have been fishing dryflys stripped wet about 8-10 inches under the surface. I hope the fishing continues for all.
