Jordenelle Tomorrow ?
#1
Going on a picnic tomorrow at jordenelle. I'm going early to try and catch some perch and Smallies with my son. Is the perch bite light or will my son be able to feel it?
I'll be using jigs w/ a piece of worm' for him, I think. Should I use a bobber or are the perch holding to deep?

Should I fish the Rock ledge area, are there better areas?

I've fished the Rock Cliffs area with my kids and they have done well with a bobber and jig setup for perch, whether I'm out on a canoe with them or shore fishing. Your son might do better with a bobber, just wait for it to disappear underwater and have him set the hook. I've used the pencil-type bobbers so there is less resistance, hence the perch will likely hold on longer to the bait. I also use the first small perch that I catch as bait, just cut the meat into 1/2" squares and they last amazingly long, plus the other perch love to eat their kind. Just find some structure (brushes or weeds) and you will find the perch. Good luck tomorrow!

I have a nice boat and a good depth sounder so mobility is no problem. I have pencil type bobbers and small slip bobbers that are ment for 1/16 oz jigs. Are the perch near the bottem? Should I be able to see them on the sounder or will they be like they were through the ice?
