Anyone have experience with the Tica Libra Spinning Reels?
#1
Still looking for a good durable spinning reel. Am really getting tired of wearing them out in 1-2 yrs. Seems like it's always the worm gear!!!! Granted, I've been buying the inexpensive ones, so am willing to pay a little more to get one that lasts. Am looking at the 2500 series since that best suits my fishing. Yea, I know. I asked this before, but have been reading good things about this reel. Anyone have first hand experience?
If not the above, am considering going for the Pfluger President or a decent Shimano. Any recommendations on which Shimano, hopefully under $100?
Thanks in advance. Any ifo. appreciated.

I only use Shimano. but i don't buy the expensive ones and i am also hard on reels. but i pack my shimano's with a good grease i never use reel grease. Now i have never put this reel up against a musky but they do will with the wipers and i have caught a coulple mac's on them. I beleave in a good grease keeps my reels going to be honest. just my input

Interesting comment. My first thought was the same, but each time I opened them up there was plenty of grase still there. I always regreased just to make sure but the danged worm gears still wore out. Which Simano do you use? They appear to be mande of brass???

Leaky,
My friend who guides fishermen on Bear Lake, Jim Stone, uses the Tica Libra reels exclusively for the last few years. As far as I know he reely (pun intended) likes them. He used to go through the cheap reels at a rate of 2 or 3 per year!. These have lasted several seasons and he is on the lake more than anyone I know. If you want to ask him some questions regarding the reels the number to Pugstone's Ripples and Waves Sporting in Garden City is 435-946-2855.
