Welcome to BFT, Ware. I was at the Gorge 3 weeks ago. We found macks jigging in the Lucerne area, but it was tough to get them to bite. I have heard from friends since then that they have become even tougher since then. Lots of fish, though, especially in Linwood Bay. I haven't heard anything recent about kokanee.

well dont know what part of the gorge, you will be fishing on.but the koke fishing had really slowed down,it usually does this time of year.lot of the kokes are into thier transiation period.some will be getting ready to spawn soon, and wont be feeding alot,if any.the fish on the gorge have been hammered all summer and they have gotten wise.
i havent heard alot lately about any big mack's being caught, lots of little pups still are out there. water temps have been in the 69-72 degs range. the smallmouth should be hitting still.the back coves should be holding a few of them. [signature]

I was also up on the Gorge 3 weeks ago for three days. I would have to agree that Koke fishing has slowed, but it is still possible find them using downriggers in the 50-70' range. As far as Mac's, I jigg for them. I've never had much luck trolling for big ones, especially this time of year.
After three long days of Jigging, the last day I hooked and landed a 37Lb and we also landed a 19lb and 13lb. Others we caught on that trip were pups in the 4-8lb range. The key is finding active fish on the bottom. Plenty of fish, but most won't bite this time of year. [signature]

I took a weeks vacation a couple of weeks ago and spent it at the gorge. Had a blast. mac fishing was slow. All the macs we caught were under 10lbs. We did get into the kokes but we fished our butts off for what we got. Our best luck was on the wyoming side between pipe line and buckboard. Fish seemed to be bigger as well. According to our offical fish counters (my 3 sons) we caught over 50 kokes. But like I say we fished long and hard for 5 days.

Welcome aboard. Haven't fished the gorge since I lived in Wyo. 5 yrs ago, but the best coke fishing was always across from Sqaw Hollow on the Wyoming side back then. Seems like I read last week on a post that Sqaw Hollow was undergoing some road /& or/ ramp upgrades. Good luck
