I am going with my old man on a fishing trip for the weekend and it appears that we will be going to Currant Creek. I've never been there and would appreciate some fishing tips if you were willing to share. What types of fish should I try for? What works best up there? Like I said I have neverr been there and the only thing I know about it is what I have seen on a map. Thanks for for the help.

For the most part you'll catch smaller cutties. Most people fishing from the bank either fish the dam area or drive around and access the water from the road leading to the camping ground and boat ramp. The lake contains a lot off moss so if I'm bait fishing I usually hang it 4' under a bobber or float a worm off the bottom with a marshmello 2' - 4'. For me crawlers coupled with salmon eggs work well. Also Spinners.. Good Luck

There are several threads on here about Currant Creek. Do a search and read away. Primary game fish is cutthroat --- so the usual lures/baits for cutts will be your best bet. Welcome to BFT and let us know how you do.

Don't know about currant creek but for cutties I've always had the best luck with roster tails. I've have an older fishing buddy that when i first got to utah told me trout couldn't be caught on roster tails but quickly i proved him wrong. I myself havn't had the best of luck with worms and mellows or even power bait. I like the classic roster tail. Good luck and let us know how it goes

Welcome to the site Hawkez. Will you be fishing from shore or a boat? If you are fishing from shore, one of the best methods that I've seen shore fishermen use is a fly and a clear casting bubble, I can't tell you what fly to use but you should take a selection with you. I'm sure you could go to any of the local tackle shops like Hooked fishing tackle and they could give you an idea what flys to use. Fill the bubble 1/4 to 1/2 full with water and cast to a good spot. Some of the best areas that I've seen this method work are in the back bay on the North side of the lake. The water is shallow there with moss close to the surface, the best time is the evening but I'm sure you could do good in the morning also. The rest of the day you might be better off fishing like the other guys said. If you are in a boat, I've done best with Jakes spin-o-lure. Good luck, I hope this helps. WH2
