Reel info needed

Im in the market for a new rod and reel im wondering if anyone can give me the pros and cons of both spinning reels as well as bait casting reels any help will be appreciated

Spinning are a bit easier to deal with, less tangles. The problem I ahve noticed on my bait caster is the lash back is aweful if doing distance casting and you dont have the adjustment just right for the lure weight.

Theres an entire world of difference. Too much to get into here.
I recomend a trip to your local tackle store to discuss the differences with someone who can show you an actual reel.

The first thing to realize is that if you decide to try a new style of reel, you also have to learn how to use it.
I have found that most guys buy a casting reel, and get frustrated with it because they cant use it 100% effectivley righ away. So, they give up, and go back to what they are used to since its "easier".

Remember when you were a kid and tossed a spinning reel for the first time? I am betting it didnt work quite like you wanted it to. You see it all the time. A kid who is just learning casts and the lure ends up behind him on the bank.
As with everything, there is some learning to be done.

You will be releasing the line with your thumb rather than your index finger. This requires some practice to obtain accuracy.

If you decide to change up, you have to realize that you are the kid who is learning. But you can become effective in a short period of time if you stick with it. Just like shooting hoops, or riding a bike.

Some of the big differences you will find will be price. Good casting reels are much more expensive.
But the up side to price is that casting reels last longer than spinning reels and maintain thier quality of performance longer. They have ultra impressive drags compared to spinning reels. And you get rid of that line twist that causes so many problems with spinning reels.

But, spinning reels are what most guys in utah are expirienced with, you can get a decent one relativley cheap. And replace it cheap.

Also, if you get a decent casting reel, and learn how to set it up correctly, you wont have problems with backlash.
