Quicky Pineview Rpt., Scouting new areas - 9/17
#1
Sparky and I took a quick. 3 1/2 hr trip to the Pine to try new areas. Tried a portion of the Nr. shore of So. Fork in the tube. Caught 1/2 doz.smallies and a paper mouth. Smallies ranged from 10 - 14 in. Watched a guy with his 2 buddies land a 47 " Tiger. They had a time getting it into the boat. Watched em billy club it and take pictures [unsure]. They were very excited and showed me the fish while I was getting ready to leave. Kind of Sad to see it put down, but I guess they are entitled. The kid yelled he was going to have it mounted. Obviously, he was very proud. I hope if it happens to me I take a picture and let her go. It's awfully tempting though. I can't imagine landing it from a tube though. I sure would give it a shot, hopefully without too much damage to the Tiger.

[Smile]Sounds like you had a good day.
You did not mention what you were using, or was that on purpose. I know that some folks like to keep there favorite bait to them self. I can under stand that.

Hey Bud,
Don't mind sharing at all, sorry for the oversight. Sparky and I used something different than I usually use. Normally use a Quacaomole 3" reaper Texas rigged but had a small 2 1/2 " pumpkin curly tail on a 1/32 oz. jig from Mantua and just kept it on. Worked well. Also worked good at Mantua a couple of days ago on the LM.

Thanks leaky for the report.. I'm planning on taking the wife out tomorrow evening near the narrows.... I'll be fishing from shore. I've heard that smallies hit pretty good over there as well as perch.

Where are you getting the reapers? SW has some slim black leeches that arent the reapers I remember - I have been considering getting some molds and pouring my own because they are a pain to find.

[black]That's too bad about the muskie. I'll bet the sticker shock makes him rethink his idea of getting that fish mounted. At $10 - $14 per inch, a 47" musky ain't gonna be cheap. Like you said, you hate to see those trophies being harvested when a picture and a fiberglass reproduction do the same thing. It's one thing if they belly up on you but you are right, a guy is entitled to it if he wants to keep it.[/black]

cclaeys;
I get em at Sportsmans, Kamakazee.
Hells,
Looking at that photo looks like where you took the picure from is very close to where I was fishing, I was maybe a little further West but not much. The water is pretty low but obviously not nearly as bad as last year.

Will probably try somewhere West of Middle Fork next, where ever I can find access with the tube.
