I had a great fishing weekend. On Friday I fished the Strawberry with Theo Hymus. What a great guy! He is an excellent fisherman as well. He spent most of his life fishing in Michigan waters, but he has fished Utah waters extensively as well. I caught 27 trout (released all but 2 for the table). Between the two of us we caught over 50 fish. We fished in the Meadows the entire time we were there. The fish were close to the top again so we fished spoons on mono without any additional weight. We fished with light tackle which made the experience that much more fun! It is unbelieveable how big those fish are getting. I, for one, think that the slot regulations are great!
On Saturday I fished Deer Creek with Tug Bennett, Gary Brown, and Bob Poast. We also had a great time. We caught some large trout and one walleye trolling spoons and Rapalas. Some fish were on top, but the largest fish we caught (including the walleye) were very deep. Most of our success was on J-11 Rapalas.

Excellent report. How big were the trout at D.C? They were impressively large last winter for me through the ice ( 16-20 inches long and thick) and I was wondering if they were still in that range.

Some of the trout being caught out of Deer Creek right now are 25" and longer. These large fish are taking large baits!

Great report lloyd...
I plan to hit the berry tomorrow with the little Mrs. and would dearly love to get her into some of that action (it can only help when it comes to needed support down the road!!).
Anyway this is the most wonderful time of the year and I plan on enjoying every day that I possibly can out in it...
Here's to fall...PB

Hi,
I was using Crystalina Spoons. The one that I used most was color #19 in the 1/8 oz size. Wal-Mart used to sell them, but I haven't seen any at Wal-Mart for some time. It is a "fish-like" lure much like the walleye blades sold at Sportsman's.
The Renegade boat ramp is a few miles beyond the main boat ramp. The water in that bay is called the Meadows, and is also called Renegade Point or Bay. Good luck!
