Its the end of everything I value when fishermen steal from fishermen.

I just realized that this weekend I got ripped off while parking my truck.

I launched my boat, tied it off to the dock, and went to park the truck.

During that time someone jumped into my boat, opend up my storage, and stole two boxes of curl tail grubs out of my tackle storage.

Now, these idiots werent very smart because they left $400.00 + rod and reel combos, a box of gamakatsu lead heads worth about $150.00, three boxes of cranks that have about 40 cranks a piece in them, ect.

Now, who passes up a loomis rod with a PT X-metal reel on it in favor of a couple boxes of curl tails?

Regardless, its Sad when you cant leave your fishing stuff in the presence of other fishermen for 2 1/2 minuets while you go park your car without getting ripped off.

Well, looks like the Kalin company is going to love me this month.

You know whats more crazy?

It took me two days to realize I got ripped off.

I didnt end up using any curl tails this weekend, so I didnt find them missing when I needed one, but when I was picking my trays up off the basement floor, and putting them back in the bag, I noticed I no longer possessed any curl tails.

I knew I pulled them out of the bag and put them in the boat, so somehow they got out of the boat without my help.

Proof positive that theifs aren't very smart. Hopefully, the fishing gods will make sure that none of the poached tackle brings the theifs any luck.

Sorry to hear that, I also got burglarized this weekend only I wasn't as fortunate as you. I have a broken drivers side window to repair and am a few hundred bucks in electronics lighter, not to mention two fishing rods and my wallet/ID's/credit cards/ect...

My only consilation is that they left my baits and lures and clothing alone as well as the fact that I had my more expensive gear with me at the lake. Doesn't seem like it was a good weekend for the honest fisherman.

Looks like I'm going to have to come down and visit you and get myself some replacement items, LOL. Can you get me a vehicular burglary discount?[Smile].

BTW, I ended up purchasing a pfleuger president. Smooth as silk. Luckily I had it with me.

[mad] Rotten luck on the "hit and run" lure thieves Predator... I was curious as to where you were when these "dry-landers" struck? probably at Utah Lake or some other low/warm water fisheries, because it sounds like the work of a "Cat-fish" burglar to me. anyway no self respecting trout fisher would stoop so low (or would they?)
One last thing make sure when you report it to the authorities that you tell them that the doors were locked.... it will help with the insurance claims.

Just a thought- PB

You sure you didn't knock them over the side? Or, maybe your son buried them in the backyard?(he likes rattletraps better).

I was reading on a Washington Flyfishing site that they had problems with theives in a certain area and so they were going to set up a Sting operation and bust the "foo" stealing all the stuff. Maybe that isn't too bad of an idea to do around Strawberry or any other real popular area.

Just a thought

Sorry man. That's terrible. It's too bad when we can't leave things for just a few minutes without people messing with your stuff. They may have noticed the rod/reel combos, but figured it would be much easier for you to spot them walking away with rods and reels identical to yours.
