Public Meeting on Croaker January 6
#1
The Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission (ASMFC) and the New
Jersey Department of Environmental Protection's Division of Fish and
Wildlife will host a public meeting regarding proposed modifications to
the ASMFC's Interstate Fishery Management Plan (FMP) for Atlantic
Croaker.

The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Thursday, January 6, at the
Atlantic County Library, East Jimmie Leeds Road (Rt. 561) in Absecon,
Galloway Township. Similar meetings are scheduled for Georgia, Maryland,
North Carolina and Virginia.

The amendments incorporate information from the latest stock assessment
and peer review, as well as revisions to make the plan compatible with
mandates of the Atlantic Coastal Fisheries Cooperative Management Act.
The discussion will focus on plan objectives, commercial/recreational
management measures and regional management approaches.

A copy of the proposals can be obtained via the ASMFC's web site at
www.asmfc.org under Breaking News or by calling 202-289-6400. Written
comments will be accepted until 5 p.m. on February 2 and should be
forwarded to Nancy Wallace, FMP Coordinator, 1444 Eye Street, NW, Sixth
Floor, Washington, DC 20005; (202) 289-6051 (fax); or
comments@asmfc.org.
