Had an unfortunate event today. My buddy left his rod carrier with six poles and three reels in it at the parking lot. We were parked by the new bowery. This is just a feeler to see if any one saw it or picked it up. My buddy is willing to pay a reward if found. By the way Mantua sucked today. Any help you can give would be appreciated.

Did you see anyone go through the ice? I herd it was really bad ice and there were alot of people going to hit it anyway.

No, No one went through. The edge was a little tough but the ice wasn't bad. A little slush on top but it was hard enough to walk on.

[black]Pretty bad when someone rips off your gear. Where did he leave it? In the back of a truck? Do you have any details as to what got stolen like types of rods and reels? Does your buddy have a picture with his rod holder in it that can be posted?[/black]

[black]Yep, the fishing on Mantua was pretty bad. We did see some people break through at the edges and get wet legs up to their crotch. If anyone decides to get on the ice at Mantua, the easiest place is to use the docks. Also there was a decent spot on the ramp. This is the easiest place to slide a big sled or shelter.[/black]

We also saw Doug Miller there. I'll bet that will be one short segment, if even aired at all!

I will see if he has any pictures. I know the reels were 2 Brownings and a Quantum Micro. Two of the rods were black Ice and I'm not sure what the other four were but they were sweet and I know that he hasn't been able to find them anywhere else.
We talked and fished with doug for a little while and the way he was talking I will be totally surprised if the segment airs.
Any way thanks for the interest, my buddy is just sick.

[cool]That really sucks about the gear getting stolen! It sounds like there must be some thugs that hang out up there waiting for a moment to steal people's gear. This isn't the first story reported on this board about stolen gear at Mantua. I believe Predator had a story about someone stealing one of his tackle boxes out of his boat when it was docked last summer. I beilieve that he just went back to his truck to get something or the bathroom or something. I think he said when he got home he noticed that it was stolen because he didn't leave it at home.
Also, Leaky, or Old Coot, or Xman (can't remember which) gave a report last summer also that his son or grandson got some gear stolen as well by one of the docks.
It seems like thugs frequent this body of water quite a bit, for such a little lake. When you compound that with crappy ice conditions, and crappy fishing success this winter, I don't think I'm heading up there!
