mantua report 1-3-05
#1
[Sad] we also went to mantua for a while the ice isn't really holding up to good there. you have to jump onto the ice to get on and off. the ice around the boat docks is dangerous i poked the ice bar right through the ice in some places. i talked more that one person that said a guy went throught the ice this mourning out from the boat ramp and we could see alot of warm springs open and open water in places on the lake. we caught only 2 small rainbows 10-12 inches. there was alot of people fishing they all said the fishing was very slow and that they caught more fish through the ice before they were able to use bait so i don't think that it has made that much difference fishing with bait there.

good luck fishing

I know I was sure surprised how slow the fishing was. I thought like alot of people did that as soon as a worm or somthing hit the water that it would be hold on. I think I'll just wait on Mantua til ice off and hit it in the tube.

[cool]Wow! That is crazy, man. Makes ya wonder if there was a lot of fish that died last summer or fall. It just doesn't make much sense that people aren't nailing the perch and bluegill up there. Maybe the good spots don't have good ice, so nobody's icefished there yet? Who knows, but this sure doesn't make much sense![unsure]

I was really looking forward to fishing that place for my first time, but now, until I hear a good report from somebody, I think I'll just Perch fish at Echo and Rockport this year, and maybe Jordanelle.
