Fished Echo for about an hour today picked up a few decent trout. The ice was about 4-5 inches around the dam. A little bit of open water was around the edge, but not too bad.

[cool]Thanks for the report. So, are you saying that you didn't have any luck with the Perch today? Man if true, that place really does suck this year.

Is there still that big patch of open water in the middle of the lake?

That big patch of open water is getting bigger. The ice on echo looked ugly today. I saw a few guys thinking about it, but I didn't see anyone brave enough to get on it this morning. There are big cracks by the dam that didn't appear to be refreezing. I went to lost creek instead.

We were the ones trying to get on that morning. It was really slushy and unstable by the boat ramp. We didn't even walk out because my friend I was with has a bad hip and we didn't want to risk it. We went down by the dam say the hike and new he could not do it. The ice looked like something you see in march. It was bad but I'm going thurs, sat, and monday to make up for it.

Hopefully it'll firm up soon. I've missed fishing echo this winter.

Hey Cowboy 43 have you had any luck up there this year? All I keep hearing is slow fishing.

I'll go ahead and toss this in on this thread. Monday morning it was almost 40 degrees at jordanelle at 7:30 this morning and raining like no tomorrow. I'm sure weather like that can't help the ice at echo and rockport much.

[cool]According to the weather report tonight, when you drive by tomorrow at 7:30 it should be snowing and about 25 degrees. The next morning (and for quite a while after) it should be around zero or thereabouts.

I hope you're right, but at this point I'm just looking forward to an early spring. Either way, I'll be happy. Either I'll be fishing hard water, or I'll be scooting around in the pontoon. I'm pretty easy to please. It's all fishing to me.
