the bait that was working best last year was worm on a plain red jig head.. but it's not really worth your time going to starvation to fish for walleye.. alot of work with only small fish that dont even fight at all.. the perch in fish lake fight much better!! of as far as that go's allmost anything will fight better than the walleye in starvation..

if you want to catch a big fish out of starvation you should try going after the brown trout in there.. they love red side shinners this time of year chub works well too..

dude on fish?

Starvation is a tough lake to catch walleye on while ice fishing. A big group of us fished it last winter and few were caught, the ones we did catch were small. WH2

Even if there was ice on there before today, it's surely almost gone now. It has been raining out here most of the day. A foot of snow this morning is down to about 3 inches now, and water is still running off the roof at 10:34 p.m.

These guys speak the truth for the ice eye's here as far as I've seen. I was one of the lucky ones that actually caught an eye last year. It was 9" and felt like I has a small snake instead of a fish.

There are a few locals that say that they average 3lb. eye's all winter long. I have yet to have seen any proof of that, but one of them pulled up to me during the spring spawning run when I caught the biggest eye I've caught there at 4lbs. I have seen him there a lot and know he does well in the fall tounament, and he said that they averaged fish like that all winter. I would like to know where and how if it's true.

There are big Browns in that thar pond. I usually target them just after ice out in the spring. I might just have to load up on shiners and make a trip over. If I get by there in the next week, I'll post the ice conditions.
