gunnson res use to have perch as big as yuba as well.. but not any more and unlike yuba i dont think the DWR are ever going to try and put them back in..
there are some place's around that have some nice perch.. but not to many that alot of people know about.. thats the only reason that they still have big perch..
i hit a 11" perch in just such a spot the other day..
dude on fish?

newton had some big ones not all that long ago also but most are gone now with the low water. It"s to bad that the DWR wont or cant do what they need to in all the lakes. some how we all need to find a way to help them. "but not with the buckets biologists"

Tubedude, That day will soon be here, as the perchies we proliferated from Jordanelle, and dumped in Yuba a year or so ago. They are breeding unmolested, unless bows have developed a diet for those perchies, or those walleyes remaining in the sevier river had made their comeback, but the perch numbers should rise more than fall on their demise by their predators. You know perchies are worse than jackrabbits when it comes to their season... We will have a huge perch population, that we would have to eventually install 'eyes to naturally thin things out at Yuba.
By the way, I have caught tons of perch via bottom bouncin' trolling for walleyes on crawler harnesses at Yuba that comes out to 14-16 inches. It's a blast!
