Lost Creek 1/15/05 - HOT
#1
Fished Saturday with a few friends. Didn't find many fish so we kept moving around. Found an awesome few holes in about 35 ft of water. Most of the time you would drop to the bottom and reel up 2-3 times and have a fish on. If not, it would only take less than a minute to get one. It reminded me of years past at Pineview and catching tons of perch.
We got there about sun-up and left around 1:30pm. Between the 7 of us I believe we iced 70 + fish.
A lot of small fish, but when you are there with kids that only care if they catch somethig, size doesnt matter.
Lots of fun.

We were there on Friday. Yes you had to move. But like you said once you found them it was great. It is amazing what only 15 yards makes as well. I met two guys (both of whom are only lurkers on the BFT) Dave and Jeff, who fished by us. They were outfishing us 3 to 1 easy. Like I said only 10 - 15 yards away. Before that we (Dave and Jeff included) were fishing about 100 yards from a group of guys who were slaying the fishies. When they left we took over their holes (is that poor ediquet?) and it got really fast and furious. Dave and Jeff, thank you again. Not only for your help with the fish finder but for the entertainment you gave my kids. You were both very good sports about it!

We were using Boogers and Whatta Crickets. The Whatta Crickets were a bit better. We tipped with either a worm or waxies. A big thank you to the guys at Hooked! It was their idea to go to Lost Creek. They are very helpful.

rgreenland (or anyone else that's been up there recently),

Just curious how it was getting from your vehicle to the ice. Is access an issue trying to get kids and some old, fat dudes (mainly speaking for myself [pirate]) down onto the ice without break a limb or two? Thanks in advance.

We used the white Whatta Crickets as well at first but found that pretty much anything white would work. It got to the point that my crickets were so beat that I would just hook 2 grubs on a plain jig head (white or pink) and it worked just as good.

Getting to the ice was not a problem. We parked in the lot by the dam. I expected the trail down to be slippery, but it wasnt. The trip back up the hill took a few minutes but the footing wasnt bad at all. If anything, I would say you need to be more careful on the ice...there were many spots that were not snow covered and very slippery. Some of those cleats or ice creapers would work well.

I'd agree with rgreenland. I had my 2 boys (8 and 10) and there were a couple of other families with kids younger than mine. If you think that the damn is too steep (I didn't think it was too slippery) you can always cross the damn and walk down the ramp. Its a longer walk but not as steep. They beat my 'crickets up as well. We used green and white. The whites were best.

Right on slimerslayer! And may I be the first to say welcome. My boys are dying to go again. Like you said, it is crazy how much difference 50 yards can make. I'd head back that way this weekend, but I think its time for the cisco.[cool] My boys love that too. If you get the urge to come up this way to Porcipine or to the Bear give me a pm. Thank you again!
