Yuba report 1-16
#1
Hit Yuba with my daughter on 1-16. The lake is wide open. It was 22 at 8am when we arrived and 44 when we left at 2pm. It was a beautiful day, not a cloud in the sky and no wind.Fishing was very slow. We hooked 6 but only landed 1. We tried a little bit of everything. All the takers were on powerbait. The water is way up from where it was the first of December. We fished at the bottom of the ramp. Almost all bites were straight out from the ramp.

The one we landed was a beatiful male 20" in full spawning colors. The others we lost also felt pretty big. I was scouting a duck area in Dec. where the water comes into the lake. There was an excellent flow then, I'm sure its better now. I found access to the river area a mile or so past the painted rocks launch area. I found a gate that was neither locked nor posted that took me to within 200 yards from the water. Easy access...I'll bet you're right TD, you'd probably find them there.

[cool]Thanks for the report, slayerace! That is excellent news about how much water is coming in there! Hopefully those 'bows are spawning nicely in the river, and that the Perchies are all getting ready to do the same thing soon! It will be interesting to see how much our lakes fill up this spring/summer. Let's all keep doing our snowdance's or praying for snow!!

We may just get that lake back to "the good ol days" spoken of by TubeDude and the others. It all starts with the incoming water, and those little Perchies reproducing, and hopefully they'll reproduce quickly as the lake continues to fill, and then in a couple of years, BRING ON THE WALLEYE, BABY!! In the meantime, at least those 'Bows are growing rapidly to keep us entertained until then!

The water was flowing at least as fast as the Provo flows into Jordanelle, Utah Lake and deer creek. But the river is 10 times wider. It is flowing fast...

The amount of precip. for the Sevier River Drainage is
a little over 200%. I think Yuba should fill up very nicely
this spring and summer.
