[cool]Thanks for the report, bigfishchowder, and welcome to BFT/Utah. I can't wait to fish it tomorrow myself. I just hope I can get out on the ice. I lost my ice cleats, so I'd better hit sportsman's today. What was the average size of the Perch you caught, and what was the longest? Also, did you catch any brown's or just bows?

Hey bfc, welcome to BFT! Thanks for joining as a member -- it's well worth it, and thanks for the report.
I'm also from Utah county, but I haven't had much time to fish the last year. I'm finishing up my last semester of college at UVSC right now, then I'll be able to breath easy and get out fishing more often.

Welcome Bigfishchowder.
It's great to see so many new members like yourself. Have you read the posts about the perch party on the 29th?
It will be fun seeing folks that we talk to on the PCs.
I hit Rockport on Monday myself and was surprised at the size of the perch. They were about 9" average with several topping in at 11". I was also surprised that out of the 30 trout that we caught, none were browns and all were small, going about 10" in average. BFT members use FSR channel 12-0 when fishing if you want to give someone a shout.DKS

The ice at Rockport is about 4" thick as on Monday 1-17-05.
It has been over 40*F+ there during the day and the ice was getting a little soft. The edges are open water for a few feet and some places around the middle of the reservoir still has open water. Be very cautious until there is colder weather. DKS

Welcome to the site bigfishchowder . I was on the west side of the lake fishing sunday . My fishfinder showed some big clouds of something cruising thru every now and then . It looked to be 10' thick cloud of something close to the bottom . I did notice the perch would spit up lots of a tiny tiny bug , maybe water fleas or some type of zooplankton . Not sure if it was the zoo plankton I was seeing on the finder or what . but it draw the perch to the area .Then again it could of been the perch creating the black out on my finder .
