huntington,cleveland, and E-lake (up date)
#1
on my way to Joe's Valley yesterday i stoped at Huntington and E-lake to check conditions.. huntington has alot of snow on it.. at the parking area there is a wall of snow about 5 to 6 feet high but there is a area to cut through the snow to get up on top of it.. the snomobilers have bet a good trail down to the ice..there was signs of people fishing the ice looked like some have shoveld the snow off the ice to fish..

E-lake looks like it would not be to bad to get to but someone has to get a shovel up there and cleare the snow out in frount of the gate to get through it.. after that looks like the walk acrost the dam looks good (warning dont get close to the south side of the dam unless you want to be the next avalanche victim in utah)..
stay to the north side of the dam there is very little snow on that side and the walk should be easy tell you get to the down hill part.. it did not look like anyone has been down there for awhile so a new trail will have to be made..

cleveland res has signs around it asking people to stay off the ice..huntington clevland water users are drawing it down so might be unsafe ice there..

I have never understood why they draw down Cleveland and Huntington even further during the winter. Are they using the water to fill some reservoir downstream?

hey kent i did note that Joe's valley was up about 10 feet from what it was 3 months ago..so i think they are trying to put as much as they can in there before the runoff starts.. what i dont understand is why they was takeing so much water out of jos valley and huntington so they could fill clevelan up before it iced over then they want to draw it down after it has ice?
