Greg, welcome to BFT. Lots of reports on here on the Cisco spawn. Just look down the list of threads and pick out the recent ones about Bear Lake or Cisco. Also, one can search by clicking on the Search icon, and typing "Cisco". Bottom line is no ice on the main lake, so it might be extremely tough for your father to net cisco this year if he needs to do it from on top of the ice.

Hi- when I was there last Thursday the cisco were spooked really easy and you had to get in the water and crouch down so they didn't see you as easy. They would come and go in schools. Our best luck was in the areas where the rocks we could stand on dropped off sharply. It seemed we were a little more hidden there.
The snow was about 15 inches deep and crusted on the top. We were walking down small narrow trails from the parking area but since the cisco party last saturday maybe there is enough trail to get a wheel chair down, but it would be very difficult. I think your Dad would have to watch from the shore if you go.
I have lots of stories about people getting ticketed for taking more than the 30 cisco possession limit. One guy said the DWR fined a guy $75 per fish for every one over the 30 and cost him about $1,900 in fines. Ouch! That is second hand, so the truth maybe twisted. But then that goes with being a fisherman doesn't it? HaHa. Acey

3 of us went last Sat. it only took us about 30 min. to get three limits. There were some guys using a small boat next to the shore, that may be the way for you to go if you have access to a boat.

The boat ramp is open at cisco beach.

I went to Cisco Beach Monday 1/24, from 7:30 am to 1:00 pm and saw very few and netted ZERO. They didn't want to come in close to shore at all. Only a handful of people out and the lake was little choppy to glass the whole time. Talked to a few folks and not many had done any better. The fish are there but just be prepare to wait on them a little. Those who had gotten some were several hundred yards north of the boat ramp. Roads were in great shape. Hope you get in on them.

Hey big riggs, welcome!! I just got home from a 9 hr day at school and did not get a chance to post about yesterdays trip. We got there just after sun up and it took us about 3.5 hrs to get our limits. Nothing to be proud of but, at least we got them!! It was a little slower than I thought it would be. I was suprised how many people were there on a Tues. I did see a chunk of ice floating by Cisco Beach and Pugstone's page said that there was more of that today. Be sure to take waders and you may have to move around and find where the fish are coming in. Be sure to get down low in the water or they will spook!! Take two pairs of gloves because I got so low I inadvertently stuck my hands into the water. Jake
