Bear Lake Ramp Report
#1
[black][size 3][mad]Seems as though the big lake can't make up her mind if she wants to feeze up or stay open. This morning, 2/3/05, launching off of Cisco Beach and below the Cottages wasn't an option because of the ice that has formed and pushed into these locations. I will try to keep this updated when they open up again. As far as I know they might already be opened up, haven't made it back over there again today, please let me know if you find out anything contrary to my listing.[/size][/black]

[font "Times New Roman"][black][size 4][crazy]I personally have mixed feelings, I would like to see it freeze up so that the fog would stay away, but if it freezes we loose a lot more fish out of the lake because of access. And as for having a sporting goods store I sell a lot more when it's frozen, plus I have a lot of ice fishing gear to get rid of, oh well, either way I will be happy, I just hope it makes up its mind, either stay open enough so that we can access it or freeze up, hope she makes her mind up quickly! Just got a report from my son who went out this morning in my old 16 foot aluminum. He said they had to go down by the scout camp where someone had plowed to launch. Couldn't use the ramp. They caught 5 cuts the largest were a 5Lb and 6lb. Using downriggers in 50 foot of water.

[black][size 3]The ice isn't going anywhere at the marina for now. It is froze solid, I would imagen around 1' thick at this point. The problem with keeping the Marina open this year was that because of the depth of the water, around 2.5' - 3', it made it almost impossible for the bubblers to keep it open, there wasn't anything really to circulate. I think that we could maybe invest in some more bubblers this next year, putting some closer to the ramp, and maybe that would work out. Anyway, that is all I know for now, if anyone has ideas on how to keep it open for next year please let us know. [/size][/black]

[Smile][black][size 3] I am happy to report that since the low level of Oct 27 the water in Bear Lake has come up almost 1'. We won't know how much water will actually be in the lake until around the middle of March. That is when Pacific Corp will tell us what they think, too bad that they will then take most of it right back out! [/size][/black]
