MY DAUGHTER IS TAKING ME TO THE GORGE TUE. TO CELEBRATE MY 65TH BIRTHDAY A DAY EARLY. I'VE BEEN WATCHING THE POSTS FOR THE LAST COUPLE WEEKS. I HAVE SOME IDEA WHERE TO GO TO FIND SOME MAC ACTION BUT WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE ANY INFORMATION ANYONE WOULD BE WILLING TO SHARE THAT MIGHT MAKE THE TRIP BETTER. THE BEST THING THAT COULD HAPPEN FOR ME WOULD BE TO SEE MY KID HOOK UP TO & ICE A REALLY BIG ONE. ANYTHING I CATCH WOULD JUST BE A BONUS TO THAT.
A HAIRY THOUGHT JUST HIT ME! IS THE ICE EVEN STILL SAFE AROUND BUCKBOARD OR CURRANT CREEK?
THANX IN ADVANCE FOR ANY INFO.

It would really help if you have one of those Fish-N- maps of the Gorge but just in case you missed the post I made last week, this might help you.
"We went to Green River and followed highway 530 to turn off 156, it is the second turn after Buckboard marina. We arrived around 8am because we had to stop in Green River(GR) to get our stamps and water user permit. We started catching fish right away but never got one on the ice over 22" and 4 lbs. The action stopped all too quick but we stayed till 1pm. We decided to try another area so we went back toward GR and stopped at turn off 11 and took road 165 from there, near Confluence Point. We used the large Storm jigs, they were white in color we also used salt and pepper tube jigs and sweetened them with sucker meat. We fished in 80 foot of water." Maybe some of the other guys can help with some up-to-date info. I know a friend from work that was going there this weekend, I'll let you know how he did when I get home from work tomorrow. WH2

Good luck, I've been out there nearly every weekend this winter and have not landed one over 26". The big ones are getting caught, but not by me. I guess that you need to know the right place to fish (and I've tried alot of places) and have the right Mojo or something. There are lots of smaller macks if you take road 11 (north of Buckboard) and take the first right turn that Y's to the right rather than T-ing to the right. I landed over twenty macs there Saturday .in 50 to 70 feet of water. You will want a full length pole for fishing the macs and it will help to have a good fishfinder.
