Holy COW thats a big brown.

Anyone think we have any browns in this state that are this big?



Name of Fish: Brown Trout
Date of Catch: 02/11/05
Length & Guesstimated Weight: 39" (?) / 24lbs, 8oz (exact)
Tackle that was used: Casting/Trolling Rod & Reel with 10 lb. mono and Fire Tiger Zip Lure
Description of Catch: Jigging in 20+ feet of water, hooking up and feeling nearly immovable pressure... was like hooking into a log. Fight lasted from 5 - 10 minutes or so. No exact time recorded. Got a couple good surface splashes during the fight, which nearly stopped my heart.

a 39" Brown? Yes, I think Utah could have those. Why not? Flaming Gorge has put out at least one 40" Brown in the past -- it was over 30lbs -- which dwarfs the one pictured. It could do it again. Fish Lake has the potential. The state record c&r Brown trout is 32" out of Jordanelle. Plenty of forage in that lake -- who knows what's lurking there.

What a monster. Actually more like a fish of a lifetime. It looks to have a pretty silverish tint which is unlike the yellowish tint we see so much of in our utah browns. I wonder if he will have it mounted?[sly][][laugh]

oh yes utah has brown's as big and bigger.. as PBH has said FG has had some 30 lbs browns.. but some not so know brown waters are porcupine some 10 lbs + browns there.. the logan river has had 25 lbs + browns..the green river below FG 30 lbs+ browns knon to be there as well.. starvatoin res there are some big brown there as well..

Ya there are browns that big in utah. I posted on last year that went over 28 lbs.

Just found the post with your brown in it. Thats awesome! I guess I will be spending some more time on big water this year in search for the lunkers.
