Just wondered if anyone knows whether there is any open water at Scofield now. I would figure the ice is still holding strong with all the colder weather, but if anyone knows otherwise, I'd appreciate any info. Last year during this week, we ended up fishing open water as the ice had pulled back.

[cool]Last report from a week or two ago said about 30 inches of ice, and the fishing was decent, but no big ones, just little guys. Ice should still be solid right now, even on the edges. However, I'd venture to say that there's only a couple of weeks left there. I only ice fish it during November/December till Strawberry freezes, where the big fish are. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Hey Tubedude,
A couple of quick questions for you. How did you mount your down-rigger to your snowmobile ? And what size weight are you using to keep it from "bellying out" behing you ? Are you using the heavy releases ? Or, have you figured out a way to use leadcore behind a four wheeler ?
Well, I know your right about one thing for sure. By the time I am successful in flipping a fly into a hole from from fifty feet, ice has usually reformed in the hole and the fly just bounces off the target - maybe I should try streamers or heavier nymphs. Or are you saying that maybe I should try to cast my flies on leadcore line ?
Thanking you in advance for your input and hoping it will help me figure out how to be a better angler.
BTW - How big of an auger bit do you use to drill a hole big enough for your tube ?
