Lindon Harbor
#1
Arrived @ 8 am, already there was a group gathering out at the pipe. Awwww shucks, had a late start due to honey-do list (sighs, they never end, do they?), put the boat in the water, and noticed the water temp was 48 degrees, a considerable -8 degree drop from last week's excursion to the said spot. The weather prolly played havoc on the water temps and probably kept walleyes from being too active.

Set out trolling paint drying speed all the way from dock to the said spot, I was going so slow that I thought maybe the motor shut down or the prop wasn't spinning [Wink]. I could feel my 3/4 ounce bottom bouncer ticking all the way with no hook-ups. That sucks. I didn't care as there was no hurry to the said spot because of the crowds. I took my time to get there, scoped the area out... about 15 minutes of parked outside of the party flotilla, one boat left, I scrambled to get that coveted spot... danged I forgot to recharge my electrics, so I motored over... parked right on that spot. Anchored... fished with two pole license. One pole on worm/shrimp combo and the other pole plastic grub in killer colors (purple body with chartreus tail and hot pink jig head) without any sucess. Not even a bite...

I was gonna motor out and head to AF harbor when I hightailed out, and my boat was sluggish... it hit me between the eyes while I first arrived into the harbor I was paying attention to the flotilla and the people around the dikes that I forgot to screw in the drain plug... !@#$%&! I hadda kill the motor, I dug into the water to close the plug into its rightful hole...[crazy] I then turned on my bilge pump and pumped tons of water out... took about 10-14 minutes to get it all pumped out. I then started up and powered up halfway to the harbor, when I noticed the oil level was empty, 1/4 from the top, I didn't want to risk running dry at the other end of the lake (I forgot to buy an extra oil, which I headed to SS marine afterwards), so I went into Lindon harbor to fish the north and south dikes, there were no bass nor cats to be found. Dang!

However I did see a few fish caught in the flotilla. I saw Tube Dude and tube babe, and CBR and two others, I can't remember thier names as I am so tired right now from a family BBQ up in Salt Lake. I will let the BFT'ers share their stories.

It was a nice day on the lake even though no fish on my end...[cool]

Good Morning all,

Yes it was a great trip to Utah Lake ! The weather was very pleasant, the winds mild, and the water was almost glass like. You could hardley picture a better day for fishing. But, as far as catching goes ... Tubedude said it best - I practiced sight-unseen catch and release all day - Oh well, I probably would have let them go anyway.

I started with trolling behind my toon on the way to the bubble brigade - I got no hint all the way there as to whether there were fish in the lake anymore. Then I changed to a marabou jig - and of course on my last cast of it, when I was ready to change to something else, I got a close encounter scare of the fish kind, just under my boat about 2 foot below the surface, I got 3 or 4 tugs from some fish saying howdy. That suckered me into throwing the jig about 50 more times to no avail. Then I tried bait near the bottom(stinky stuff I made last week for cats) BTW - where I was the bottom was only about 3 to 4 feet away - I could almost have stood up there in my waders and fished at the time. After 10 minutes or so, some unknown fish came by and tugged the line a few times to say thankyou for the snack. Those were my best fish encounters of the day.

I did have a rather rare opportunity while trolling as I was returning to the dock, however. I was pulled over by the state park ranger(he almost ran over my line) and as he was backing-up away from me and off my line, he ran aground(not seriously - he only had to rock his boat off a little) but, he pulled me over to verify I had a life jacket - he never asked for a fishing liscense or anything else. I pointed out the irony to him, as he was rocking his boat in less than 2 feet of water to un-beach himself, that with water like glass, and the depth of the water where I had been all day, If my boat had sunk, I could have just stood up and walked ashore - He just laughed and said some folks would be too stupid to realize that.

Anyway, It was nice to met some of the BFT folks there. I rode down and back with fairwayphilly - who seems almost as equally obsessed as I am with anything fishing. From a short shouting distance, I also met CBR in his 'toon, and had a chance to chat for a moment with TubeDude. I saw TubeBabe, but she was too far aways and headed down wind to the shallower water so we didn't really get a chance to chat.
